Pisa is far more than its Tower: Piazza dei Miracoli is merely the gateway to a province few really know — the olive-covered slopes of the Monti Pisani, the villages of the Valdera, Lucca’s walls half an hour away, the seaside of the San Rossore park and the Etruscan Coast just to the south. This is Tuscany without the crowds: authentic landscapes, restaurants full of locals, gentler prices. And with Galileo Galilei international airport at hand, it is also the region’s most convenient base: you land, and half an hour later you are in the pool.
